The aim of the conference is to speak loudly about the issues related to literacy in the rapidly changing knowledge society and world, to share the experience gained in the Baltic region in the field of promoting reading and literacy as well as touch upon the research in the literacy field. The conference will also summarize and analyse the outcomes of the NordPlus project “Literacy in contemporary education environments. Sharing good practice of Reading Nests”.

The conference is organised in connection with the General Assembly of the Federation of European Literacy Associations (FELA) on July 22nd and the International Jānis Baltvilks Prize in Children’s Literature and Book Art award ceremony in the afternoon of July 24th. In the morning of July 24th there will be a Reading Nest planning seminar open to all interested.
